Basketball Fantasy Rankings – Roto Or Categories Leagues

The 2024-25 NBA season opens later this month, and seasoned fantasy managers are looking ahead to their drafts. SportsLine’s proven model has produced a set of consensus rankings that can help guide your strategy for your roto or categories league.

In roto, or category, scoring formats teams are ranked in each statistical category (points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks) by the end of every week. The team with the highest overall ranking at the end of the season wins. Depending on the league type, some categories may be weighted more than others. For example, a points league might reward well-rounded players without glaring weaknesses while a categories league will value one-dimensional players.

Some fantasy managers choose to punt a category, such as rebounds, in order to gain an advantage in other categories, such as points or assists. This is a more advanced strategy and requires a strong understanding of the statistics that make up each category.

Our basketball fantasy rankings are based on an algorithm that simulates each game 10,000 times. The results are then compared against the real-world stats of each player and the projections created by SportsLine’s proven model. These consensus rankings are available for your draft, and they will update each time there is a change to a player’s status or projection.

Victor Wembanyama, Spurs: The rookie is in the top 10 of most rankings and could be a breakout candidate this season. He is a big-time scorer with the ability to add solid rebounding and assist numbers.
