A Basketball Backboard Can Improve Your Shooting
A basketball backboard is an integral part of many plays in indoor basketball. It’s an extra vertical surface, usually made of either glass or Plexiglas, that’s used to support the rim of the backboard on a basketball court. It’s usually made of either a hard or soft material and often incorporates some type of locking mechanism to prevent it from falling over. It’s the object of much of the commentary in American basketball, both on and off the court. The most commonly quoted words are, “you got hit in the face with it,” and “you’re not even bothering me right now.”
It isn’t uncommon to have a backboard in place in an Olympic-sized swimming pool. Often, though, it is not possible for an Olympic swimming pool to accommodate the kind of basketball goal that most small children and recreational sports teams have. A basketball goal is usually attached to a wall inside a gymnasium, but since basketball goals are often portable, they are often placed outside of the building where they will be used the most. A backboard can be made from a variety of materials, including wood or composite. Many sports equipment retailers stock a full line of backboards to meet any specifications.
Many portable basketball goals have an extra adjustable feature known as an extension arm. This extra arm is designed to be used in place of an assistant basket. If a basketball goal is portable enough to need an extension arm, be sure you buy one that has an extra long one so you can reach all of the hoops on the goal.
