Basketball players have to be in great condition in order to play at a high level on the basketball court.
Are you in basketball condition?
If not, let me show you how to increase and maintain your stamina.
Basketball Conditioning Routine
– So Start with some dynamic stretching, squats, lunges, jumping as high as you can, etc…
– 10 minute jog up and down the court
– Do 4 sets of suicides with 90 second break
– Go into ball handling drills
– Go into shooting drills
– End with 1 set of suicides
Another Way To Get In Basketball Condition
When I was in High School I actually figured out that there is another way to increase your stamina without doing a bunch of suicides and jogging around the block. Pretty much all I would do every day was, go to my basketball court and play a whole bunch of pick-up games.
Unlike, most people who play pick-up games, I actually played with full-intensity and I made sure I went hard on every play. I made an effort to attack the basket instead of settling for jumpers and I hustled back on defense whenever the other team caused a turnover or grabbed a defensive rebound.
If you spend 4-6 hours daily playing pick-up games for 5 days a week like I used to do, you will have some serious stamina on the basketball court. The key to making this work is to commit to playing basketball with full intensity on offense and defense.
When you’re done playing basketball for 4 hours of full intensity, you should be exhausted.
How To Get In Basketball Condition At Home
Just because it’s raining outside doesn’t mean you can’t get a good workout in your home.
Here is what I do to stay in shape on days when I can’t go to the basketball court or gym…
– 100 push-ups, 100 squats (deep knee bends), 100 sit-ups.
– 4 sets of 5 minutes of jump roping (20 minutes in total)
I mostly recommend the in-door workout routine for those who really can’t leave the house (for whatever reason) but want to get a decent workout.
So, let’s recap on everything you’ve gotten out of this article.
I gave you a daily basketball conditioning routine to do out-door; I gave you a conditioning routine to do in-doors, and I showed you how to get in basketball condition without doing the typical drills or jogging around your neighborhood.
So, now you have no excuse not to get in basketball condition. If you still don’t want to get in basketball condition, well good luck with your basketball career.
